Director James Cameron may be remaking
his Titanic movie in 3-D, but for the 100th anniversary of the sinking of this famous ship, Miles
Morgan Travel is offering the ultimate 3-D experience: A live cruise visiting the historic RMS Titanic disaster site.
Passengers have the opportunity to pay their respects in a memorial service while also spending over a week
enjoying some of the same luxuries aboard the original ship.
Despite being said to be
unsinkable, the Titanic fell below the waves of the Atlantic Ocean in April 1912. It was unthinkable that an
iceberg would rip through the shell of the ship and send the vessel — and 1,517 people — to a tragic end. Being one of the biggest
peacetime disasters at sea, it is subject to many retellings, including Cameron's 1997 blockbuster
film. Thanks to Miles
Morgan Travel, it’s also the subject of a commemorative cruise.
One of the memorial cruise
ships, leaving from Southhampton, UK on April 8, 2012, is already fully booked, but there is another cruise
liner accepting new passengers. Leaving from New York on the same day the Titanic first set sail, the Azamara
Journey will depart on its 8-night voyage to Halifax and to 41°43'57"N, 49°56'49"W, the location where
—
12,600 feet below the surface of
the water — the Titanic rests.
Aboard these memorial cruises,
passengers will indulge in a selection of food and drinks served on the Titanic while enjoying the same type
of entertainment from when the Titanic originally set sail. Voyagers will be immersed in history as renowned
lecturers present the history of the ship. Finally, on April 15, 2011, at 2:20 am, the time the boat sank 100
years ago, a commemoration will be held to honour the sinking of the RMS Titanic.
