Boaters can now take the drive-in movie
experience to a whole other level by heading over to Corus Quay on Sugar Beach, where the Toronto Port
Authority is creating
Sail-In Cinema, Canada’s first ever floating movie experience, as
part of the celebrations marking the Toronto Port Authority’s 100th Anniversary.
The cinema will feature three classic water-themed movies over three days: 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea
will run on
Thursday, Aug. 18, underwater-thriller Jaws will run on Friday and family favourite Finding Nemowill run on the cinema’s final day on Saturday.
The Sail-In Cinema offers a limited space for boaters to sail in to drop their anchors (no ticket for boaters
required) and enjoy a movie playing on a 28-foot two-sided screen set up on a barge.
Landlubbers can also join in by obtaining a free ticket on the Sail-In Cinema’s
website, and bringing
a lawn chair or picnic blanket to enjoy the show from the harbour.
Doors open at 7 p.m., and shows begin as soon as the sun sets at approximately 8:45 p.m.
For tickets, to view the movie from the harbour, visit the official website at sailincinema.com
