This
Canada Day long weekend brings more than a four-day work week, traffic-jams on the way to the cottage and
extravagant fireworks over the lake. The holiday brings Mott’s Clamato’s annual Coast-to-Coast Caesar Toast
and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
The Coast-to-Coast Caesar Toast is an annual event that sees the creation of new Caesar
recipes in celebration of Canada Day. The six new cocktail recipes for 2011 have
been released just in time for the long weekend BBQs. As you may know, the recently married royal couple are
embarking on their first official visit to Canada just in time for Canada Day festivities in
Ottawa.
As Canada plays host to the royal couple, Mott’s Clamato pays homage to the British
Crown in a truly Canadian way —they created the
Royal Caesar. Hold on to your fascinators ladies, this is a wild one.
The Royal Caesar features iconic English flavours including gin and Pimm’s
— that’s about as
English as spirits can get — and a few dashes
of Worcestershire sauce, garnished with a cucumber crown. Don’t let the addition of Worcestershire sauce put
you off. The Angostura bitters complements the cool cucumber, and once the Mott’s Clamato is added to the
mix, there’s no need to shudder away.
As you relax on this long weekend, forget that pint and mix yourself a tall glass of
royalty as you toast to Canada’s 144th birthday.
