Art comes in many forms, from paintings to sculptures to installations. But selecting the ideal piece for
a given room can be surprisingly difficult.
Art Works can help.
“We really focus on trying to partner up the right piece of artwork for the client,” says Deanna Geisheimer,
president of Art Works. “We don’t just want to sell a personal piece of artwork; we want them to take home a
piece of artwork that they’re thrilled with and will enjoy for years to come. Our philosophy is a little
different that way.”
Since 1986, the art gallery has provided visitors with a diverse mix of Canadian, American and
internationally born artists, with approximately 30 per cent of the artwork in their gallery dedicated to
showcasing local talent from B.C.
As every space is unique, Art Works insists on ensuring that every client is happy with his or her
purchase.
To that end, clients are encouraged to take artwork on approval to their home, before committing to a
purchase.
“We encourage them to view it in different lights,” she explains. “Once you actually take it home and isolate
it, it helps you to appreciate and see the beauty of the piece in a proper setting.”
Taking that concept even further, the gallery encourages clients to send in photos of the rooms for which
they wish to purchase art. Using Photoshop, gallery staff can place various works in the image and send these
options back to clients for review. For those less tech-savvy, Art Works also offers an in-home consultation
service, seeing your space and providing professional recommendations of artwork and placement.
Art Works provides visitors with a thematic experience, providing detailed exhibits to allow people to learn
about new artists as well as view art in a more collective format.
There are two upcoming exhibits that Geisheimer says are sure to provide something for everyone. Stocking
Stuffers, running from Nov. 25 to Jan. 6, will showcase original art that cost less than $1,000 by a variety
of gallery artists. Fire and Water, running from Jan. 10 to Feb. 18, is an exhibition focusing on both the
vibrancy and the calm of our landscape. Canadian artists Corrinne Wolcoski and Paul Nickless present “this
perfect dichotomy with their wildly varying approaches and techniques to representing the earth’s landscape,”
says Geisheimer.
“We try to focus on being a one-stop art shop, giving the client maximum value for their dollar,” she says.
“We always aim to ensure that you obtain the right piece, the one that fits you in every important way—
emotionally, environmentally and financially.”
Art Works says it all in their name, showcasing art that works for all. •
