Leica Camera AG, one of the world’s
most renowned camera brands, began their North American Leica Akademie tour this summer – a series of
experiential workshops that brings Leica experience and expertise to both the photography novice and the
professional. Though they have already set foot in Calgary and Alberta in recent weeks, they aren’t finished
their tour in Canada just yet.
On August 12-14 and September 9, Leica will be visiting Victoria, British Columbia and Vancouver, British
Columbia for workshops. The Victoria weekend workshop will be taught by a Leica instructor as well as Quinton
Gordon, an acclaimed Victoria photographer who has been featured in National Geographic Adventure and
Canadian Geographic. This class will include an introduction to the M9 system, candid and street photography,
professional techniques and many other lessons to help Leica users make the most of their camera. The weekend
classes cost $495 per person, and they each receive a $300 voucher that can be used for any serial numbered M
Leica product.
Though the Vancouver workshop is not as intensive, it is a better suited class for beginners as it includes
lessons such as a basic Leica compact camera tutorial which teaches user controls, and how to make good
pictures in ten easy steps. Due to each workshop’s small class size, it enables photographers to try real
world shooting situations and allows every participant access to experienced Leica instructors.
