I was walking downtown the other day and it was not a pleasant stroll. As the bitter cold cut through me like a knife, the wind howling in my ears and the snow tearing at me in every direction, I couldn’t help but think, “What the heck am I still doing here?”
I instantly craved the sun. I missed feeling warm all over as the sun beat down on my skin (wearing sunscreen of course) and sipping cold, frothy, colourful drinks with some sort of fruit and umbrella hanging off the rim. Thank goodness my family decided it was time to take a beautiful sunny vacation. We’re going to Aruba two days after Christmas and I’m telling you, the timing couldn’t be better. I’m so excited to go horseback riding on the beach, rock climb, play beach volleyball, get pruned from swimming all day, take many trips to the swim-up bar and dance the night away.
For years most of my friends broke the news that they were leaving me for some sunny hotspot during the holidays and I’d get so jealous. Even if it was just Florida, which according to Trafalgar Tours, is still a huge destination during the winter for many Canadians.
Trafalgar says some other
popular sunny destinations this season are Mexico, the Dominican Republic, Cuba and the Mayan Riviera. The
values are great at these locations because of all the activities available, great weather and because
they’re all relatively new all-inclusive properties, so the trend to hit these spots is picking up throughout
the winter season. Check out Trafalgar’s website for more destinations and vacation packages!
