We humans get bored
quickly these days. That’s why Facebook is ever-evolving with gaming applications to keep our buzzing minds
eternally entertained.
However, the selection is endless and that can seem daunting because of the clutter games add to your wall
with achievements and notifications.
So before you play, go to account, application settings, edit settings, then additional permissions. There,
you can unclick “Publish recent activity (one line stories) on my wall.” After that you can get clicking!
Here are some of our favourites:
• Farmville.
By now you’ve surely been notified of a friend who adopted a black sheep or is newly harvesting a
crop. That’s because Farmville is the most popular game on Facebook – it has more than 81 million active
users per month. You start with six plots of land and try to build your farm up into the greatest one in the
neighbourhood – and the neighbourhood consists of Facebook friends you invite to join you. Don’t let Hannah
from Grade 10 math beat you on this one!
• Word Challenge. What’s that? Something on Facebook that actually makes you use your brain?
This is Scrabble on steroids! You get six letters and have to make as many words out of them as you can in a
few minutes. The better you do, the more time that gets added to the clock. You can also switch puzzles and
do bonus rounds where you have to find names of your friends hidden in letters. The game then ranks your
score. Will you be a hermit or a philosopher?
• Mafia Wars. So what if Hanna has the better farm in Farmville? Take her out! Virtually, of
course. Gain experience points and money as you complete odd jobs for the mafia and move up the ranks. You
level up and can eventually fight other players. This game requires some discretion as it has graphic and
violent themes.
Just remember, these games are addictive. Use discretion in that respect as well… and don’t get caught
playing them during your new blogging job!
