Who-o-o Can Say No?

January 28, 2010

Have you ever been in the store Anthropology? It just opened up this past year in Canada with two locations in Toronto and one in Edmonton.

It’s quite the chic and trendy clothing store and I rarely go into it, but when I do, I indulge on their classic necklaces, pretty headbands and high-waisted silk skirts.

However, one of the things I do every time I shop there is go past their home decor section.  This might surprise those who haven’t been in, but Anthropologie has amazing high-quality, stylish home décor accessories. I will admit, the first time I saw their four-tiered display of knobs, I let out a tiny gasp.

Yes, their knobs.

I’m fascinated by them. Out of all the stunning apparel, accessories and home decor items littered around the store, I choose to spend 20 minutes picking through cupboard knobs.

But the thing that makes these knobs different from other ones is how beautiful they are.  All of them are so precious, unique and intricately made, and there are different kinds that range from funky to chic to timeless.

Their Calico Owl Knob is what its name suggests – it’s a charming ceramic owl with brass trimmings and details.  It is utterly precious and would tie a little girl’s room together perfectly.    You should also check out their other animal knobs like the Calico Frog, Waterwing and Tweet knobs.

If you’re going for a floral look, the Peeping Posies knob comes in green and yellow and has cherry blossoms peering out from glossy glass trimmed with scalloped iron.  These little finishings are utterly delectable in any kitchen or bedroom

If glass is more your style, look for the Arthurian, Galaxy and Notched Glass knobs.  Their embellishments add detail and an elegant touch, bringing together a room without making a big statement.

Now, women can have only so many drawers in their homes. For those of us who have fallen in love with one, two, maybe even three or four of these fabulous knobs, here’s an idea to incorporate them into your space: They can make a great key, scarf, purse or towel hanger. By adding them to the sides of a tall dresser, inside of a closet, at your home’s entrance or on the bathroom wall, you can get rid of tons of clutter but also add an elegant and timeless touch to a rather boring part of your home.
