Bring Back the ‘Sunday Drive’

June 8, 2010

Remember when it wasn’t weird to plan a family day around a simple, relaxing drive? Volkswagen Canada does.

With their Golf GTI being named 2010 Canadian Car of the Year by the Automobile Journalists Association of Canada, and the Golf VI winning World Car of the Year in 2009, it’s become obvious their vehicles are a pleasure to drive. So why not take it out for a drive just ‘cause?

Volkswagen has set up vwsundaydrive.ca with a digital Sunday drive game (that has an amazing song — I’ve kept the browser open just so I can hear it on loop) to get you right in the mood for cruising. You can also share your Sunday drive stories online and explore features of the new Golf family of cars.

Our world has become incredibly “point A to point B” and lost some of its better senses of ritual. Driving doesn’t have to feel droning and monotonous. Sometimes our most profound and romantic memories can come from enjoying the expanses of our geography, small-town history and bright, sunny days. It’s all about getting back to the basics — with a car that’s simply the best.
