For the most part, I
think that the world is making a bit of a shift, and that people are all trying to live a little bit greener
these days. I am also a big believer in the wonders of a good education.
Couple those two beliefs and it’d be safe to say that travelling to take some pointers from what is arguably
one of the greenest countries on the planet – Copenhagen, Denmark – is a wonderful idea. According to a study
conducted by Siemens, Copenhagen is the “greenest” city
in Europe. In fact, its citizens aim to be carbon-free by 2025.
The already scenic landscape of Copenhagen will soon become even more of an attraction, as there are plans to
build more windmill parks to utilize green energy. You can further enjoy this landscape (while being green)
by taking a walking tour around the city.
Aside from being one of the most environmentally friendly spots on the planet, Copenhagen is also home to
“The Little Mermaid,” one of the most
photographed statues in the world – and the most popular tourist attraction in Demark.
Among other tourist attractions, you can also head to Tivoli Gardens, and stay in the historic
Hotel Nimb. Tivoli Gardens also hosts concerts
and a piano competition in the summer. Kids at heart, or actual kids, can enjoy the park as well, and ride
“The Demon,” a triple-loop roller coaster that has been set on the loose in Tivoli.
This spring, whether you’re traveling alone, with friends or with the entire family, Copenhagen’s diverse
sights and attractions might just make it the ideal destination. I know I’m already dreaming of packing
Earth-friendly gear into an organic cotton backpack and travelling over there.
