Let’s imagine for a second that you could change whatever
you wanted about your home. Would you build a sunroom? Install a new walk-in closet (or two, or three)?
Go White-House on your basement and lay down your very own bowling alley?
Whatever your vision of a dream dwelling, Citytv is
inviting Canadians to embrace their inner architect for the chance to win a great prize: A week-long family
trip for four to Azul Beach Hotel in Riviera Maya, Mexico.
The Extreme Dream
Home Build contest, which heralds the addition of "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" to the
network's new fall lineup, encourages families to spend time together by building a smaller-scale version of
– that's right – their own Extreme Dream Home.
The home can be constructed from any material –
popsicle sticks, pipe cleaners, construction paper and building blocks are just some of the suggestions –
though it should be no bigger than two-feet wide. You can submit photos of your finished project, along with
a brief description and the inspiration behind the design, on the contest page. Full contest rules can be
found here.
Submissions are being accepted now until Oct. 29. An expert
design panel — CityLine's Ramsin Khachi and Janette Ewen, along with Samantha Sanella from the
Design Exchange (pictured) —will then judge the top 10 entries as selected by Citytv. The winning entry will
be announced on Citytv.com on Nov. 12.
All three judges helped to kick off the contest by designing
their own Extreme Dream Homes, which are now on display at Citytv Toronto's new home at 33 Dundas St. I
wonder if any of their creations features a bowling alley… – Eva Lam
