No, no, no… not talking about the creepy movie with
Bruce Willis playing a ghost who doesn’t know he’s a ghost. If you haven’t already seen the movie, I
apologize because I’ve just ruined it for you. The sixth sense I’m talking about is a far more relaxing
experience, and I’m almost positive it won’t give you any nightmares.
If you ever find yourself wandering the city of Phuket, Thailand, make sure to stop at the Six Senses Spa. It was featured in the Cool Hunter
and was the 2009 winner of the Asian Spa Awards for Destination Spa of the Year. This spa is sure to
titillate the senses — seriously, that’s what they promise. According to the site, “a sense of elation
discovered only by balancing the first five — the unique experience of all senses elevated beyond
expectations” is their mission. Certainly an enticing proposition if you ask me.
Private pool villas situated on the white-sand beachfront will be what you call home during your stay. Some
of their treatments, which primarily focus on Chinese, Indonesian, Indian, and Thai therapies, include:
postural enhancement, shiatsu, and water therapy in an outdoor watsu pool. If none of those things appeal to
you, there’s nothing to worry about, because each visitor of the spa is given a personalized wellness
programme. In your downtime (like any of this is actually work), indulge in a fishetarian, which is — you
guessed it – an exclusively fish diet and raw food cuisine at The Point, the spa’s restaurant. The spa has
chosen this menu, particularly because they believe that fish and raw foods cause “less stress on the
digestive system,” so even your bowels can relax.
With this and all of the other incredible things you can do there, what could top it all off as the best
part? Well, you can do all of these things in the comfort of organic cotton pyjamas that are provided for
you. Now, that’s livin’ the good life.
